Have you ever prayed and were surprised that God answered you?
Why you shouldn’t pray prayers , if you don’t want God to answer them is an eye opener for us because prayer is a powerful communication tool between us and God. I asked God to change my heart. A tall order and a difficult one. But, I believe that first God has to change our hearts, before He can use us for His calling or do anything else in our lives. Sometimes we forget that the very thing we prayed for is what God has answered. We pray prayers when we don’t really expect God to answer them.
The Creator of the universe is the greatest heart surgeon. He can open your heart. As your maker, He knows you from the inside out. Though tough and painful. When Christ rends your heart, He will replace in it more than you expected. But, the process is often an uncomfortable and painful one.
God says, ‘I’ve never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love and more love!’ Jeremiah 31:3 (MSG)
Often God’s response is different to what we anticipated. Perhaps we have forgotten, although a change of our heart attitude is more important than our comfort. He looks at us and begins to search for a heart that only beats for Him. The heart is deceitful above all things! (Jeremiah 17:9) So you and I must entrust our hearts to Him everyday.
- To put Him first in our lives…
- To allow Him to test our thoughts and motives…
- To keep renewing and keep changing our heart attitude…
Not just today, but everyday. To create a heart the worships Him continually and loves Him whole heartedly before anything else. How can God entrust much to us when we cannot be faithful to Him?
Surrendering our will to Him will not be easy. But through it, I have learnt to know God’s faithful love for me, because it is with loving kindness that He has drawn me to Himself.
- His everlasting love has held me, even when I did not deserve it.
- His mercy has given me what I am unworthy of.
- His grace has allowed me to know what I would never have received.
Do you know that God is always listening to you?
Nothing you face is too small for God, and He will never be burdened with our prayers. In fact, God looks forward to our communication with Him. Sometimes in the darkest moments, when we draw close to God, His light shines brightest on our situation. In calling others to pray, we must be prayer warriors first. And that is why you shouldn’t pray prayers if you don’t expect God to answer. Because He can and will shape your heart and life through the power of prayer.
