Do you look at Father’s day with love or regret?
Father’s Day is a chance for us to tell each of our dads how much we love and appreciate them! Happy Father’s Day to every awesome dad. Because there will be a time when we will be unable to say the words.
For some of us this will be a sad day, perhaps we have lost a dad. On the other hand, maybe we never got to say what we may have wanted to say when we still had the opportunity. Others still, you may not have had a dad.
Whether or not we had a dad who was a Godly figure, we all have a dad who is our heavenly Father that has lavished us with a love that we can be called and privileged to be known as His sons and daughters (1 John 3:1).
God is the perfect Father (Matthew 5:48) and has loved us with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3) and rejoices over us with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). Particularly if Father’s day is a difficult or traumatic day.
Those promises are just a few of many that we can find in God’s word, but they give me a glimpse of the Father that Christ is to us all. Today as we remember our own earthly father, may we know the love that He has for us as His treasured possession (Exodus 19:5) and carries us like a lamb close to His heart (Isaiah 40:11).
One day He will take away our sadness and will wipe our tears away (Revelation 21:3-4) if we have not had a dad or he never knew Christ or he no longer is here. Christ is greater than any circumstance we face; He is the same yesterday today and forever.
Above all, this Father’s day I would like to salute my dad for being a Godly father, for being a pioneer of the faith in my life. For him and my dear mother who laid a foundation of Christ in my life.
Today, I pray that God will extend His hand of blessing to my parents and all Godly fathers who have like King Solomon says in The Proverbs listened and applied the advice and teachings of your father and mother.
So Happy Father’s Day to my dearest dad, the Spiritual head of our family and may His teaching and wisdom be extended to the gifts God has given him – to his children and further to his children’s children.
And now to the Abba Father, we all look up to as our Father role model who lives forever!
