What choices will you choose?
Life is filled with a series of actions and reactions, choices and decisions. One where we choose God’s life. Or where we follow our own impulsive emotions. How do you make choices, when frankly we are unaware of the detriment they sometimes hold?
The story of the disciples in the boat crossing the Sea of Galilee has been impressed upon me ~
Jesus still speaks to the wind and waves of adversity that blow into our lives. He commands them to ‘Be Still’. (Matthew 8:23-27).
Jesus still quietens the storms of life that encircle us. He whispers ‘Be Still’ to the waves that rise within my soul. (Mark 4:35-41).
As I sat and listened to my boss telling me what the outline for the organisation and our department was likely to be, I spoke to my soul.
The remainder of the year might not be easy, but He covers me with His wings. The predicament might seem bleak, but He watches over me.
A negative atmosphere might surround me, but I can rest in the shadow of His wings. Psalms 91
Fear has the potential to bring us to the place where we trust God alone.
In this situation that exposes demands on me, I have a choice to make. In his book, When God Whispers Your Name, Max Lucado says ‘So I am going to choose love, to love God and what God loves!’
I choose love and so much more in my situation, what will you choose?
Joy – because His joy will be my strength.
Peace – because His peace calms any storm that blows against and within me.
Patience – because He teaches me to not complain even when I don’t understand.
Kindness – because that is the only way that Christ has treated me!
Goodness – because I have so much to be thankful for in every single moment of each day.
Faithfulness – because His promises never fail and He calls me to learn how to remain steadfast in Him.
Gentleness – because He gives me strength to exercise emotions I sometimes find hard to.
Self-control – because if I feel angry I know I can ask Him for His help to help me not affect others.
You must not give up hope! Keep up your courage! Acts 27:25
‘I am the One who comforts you and gives you peace. So why are you afraid of human beings?’ Isaiah 51:12
