What Presents Are You Hoping For Under The Tree?

This Christmas time, I have thought of the one thing I wish or want the most.

Under the Christmas tree, we all hope to find the present we wish for the most…
But, are any of those ‘things’ on our wish list as precious in comparison to that first Christmas gift?

It arrived on a starry night long time ago, in Royal David’s city Bethlehem… that The Christ was born in a lowly cattle shed, where His mother Mary laid him in manger for His cradle.

Christ is that gift given to us this Christmas season!

For unto us a child is born; unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder. These will be his royal titles: Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (TLB)

Amidst the festivities… celebration… sparkling lights… glitter… laughter and fun with loved ones; my silent wish this season is that I do not lose sight of the Christ in Christmas…

The twinkling lights on the Christmas tree capture my gaze and mesmerise me… reminding me of the light that will never go out…

Like the star that shone so bright that first Christmas leading the Wise Men (Magi) to baby Jesus…

With gifts they prophesied His destiny…

  • Gold pointing to His majesty – for He is King!
  • Frankincense pointing to His deity – for He is God!
  • Myrrh pointing to His humanity – for He was destined to die!

As the Wise Men [astrologers of the sky] followed the star, they found the Saviour… we too can find the light of the world born that wonderful Christmas morning…

Jesus: I am the light that shines through the cosmos; if you walk with Me, you will thrive in the nourishing light that gives life and will not know darkness. John 8:12 (The Voice)

My most ‘wished for’ present might not be under the Christmas tree.

But, how will I know that?  I need to open my presents first.

God’s gift to us is the Christ; the choice to open that gift is ours.

But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people. For to you is born this day in the town of David a Saviour, Who is Christ (the Messiah) the Lord! Luke 2:10-11 (Amplified Bible)

Will you accept the Christ in Christmas?
