Is Midsummer’s Day The Most Romantic Time Of The Year?

Are you a romantic at heart?

Most of us have a strong connection with our emotions and feelings. To become a romantic is probably difficult, as some of the qualities are natural. But with time you can work on being more romantic. Midsummer is the perfect time to spark your romance. And why not start it with some famous poetry.

‘Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind;

And therefore is wing’d Cupid painted blind:

Nor hath Love’s mind of any judgement taste;

Wings and no eyes figure unheedy haste:

And therefore is Love said to be a child,

Because in choice he is so oft beguiled.’

Who doesn’t like Shakespeare? There are plots and story lines that woo and inspire. Yet, every romantic will agree that A Midsummers Night’s Dream is one of the most favourite writings of Shakespeare.  What a perfect read for Midsummer’s day and what a beautiful summer’s day it was.

‘I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,

Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,

Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,

With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.’

As a romantic, clearly to watch the play on the longest day of the year would be a dream, but for today, I got to day dream as I read the famous love story of four lovers where the plot gets complicated.
The love of Lysander and Hermia, reminds me of the pursuit of love we all long for... ‘My heart is true as steel.’  But even better still, it makes me think of the Lover of my Soul who continually pursues me.  His love only chases me.

When we look at love stories that end the way it did in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, ‘The course of true love never did run smooth’.

I am so glad that the Lover of my Soul is not going to turn around one day and say it’s over.

His love is forever…  strong as death! [Song of Solomon 8:6]
