What You Need To Be Truly Happy | 5 Pointers To Passion & Purpose

The month of March concluded with some remarkable and historical adjustments. Now April unrolls before us – a new month and another chapter opens, as we head into the second quarter of this year. The COVID-19 pandemic has topped worldwide headlines. Where medical science urges us to stay away from others, due to the contagiousness of this virus. And the serious health risks that could emerge. Self-isolation can leave us feeling despondent, anxious and questioning ourselves.

The Bible is filled with guaranteed promises that God will never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8). And He is working all things for our good and His purpose (Romans 8:28). While we embrace this wavering season, it is important to be discerning to where we find ourselves and God’s ultimate purpose for our lives.

At this pivotal point, is your life deficient of passion and purpose?

Do you long to give up fear that can control your life? Journaling is an invaluable project to implement. Particularly at this momentous time in history, where no one has seen more of the world stay home in peace time history. Reflection pitches a good chance to build accountability with yourself as you clasp new goals and objectives. To find purpose, live with purpose, for a purpose.

  • What advice could you have offered your younger self to prepare for uncertainty?
  • What meaningful ways could you explore to live today and into your future from self-discovery of your past actions?

How do you choose happiness?

  • This is an opportune stage to focus on what you do have, and not what you don’t.
  • Think of at least 3 things that make you smile this minute, without leaving the room.
  • Being happy begins with doing meaningful things.
  • If you have no clue how to journal. Commit yourself to a good attitude and get creative. Write a poem to describe your day. Find famous quotes that outline how you feel. Rewrite your favourite bible verse, then doodle and design a colourful picture. Sketch a mindmap with all the key points.
  • Self isolation has unexplored advantages as it allows you to slow down and enjoy the small moments. Be mindful of every action and don’t let life pass you by.
  • Appreciate today like a special occasion. Specifically with the surrounding troubles and pressures that can weigh you down.
  • Make a pledge to yourself. To awake every morning and choose joy, before you jump out of bed. Then find one thing to help you establish that choice more concretely. I choose the YouVersion App because the daily verse and related Bible plans light up my morning as I commence my morning ritual before heading to work.
  • Stop waiting to be happy, just do it! By adding happiness into your life right now. Think about your own routine. Do you glance at yourself in the mirror and think about how you want to look? Do you make an extra effort where the result makes you feel likable as part of your self-care? When you look the very best you can be, immediately you will adopt a lighter, upbeat mind-set.
  • Aim high, to be the best version of yourself by striding into your day searching for a purpose filled life, that can open doors of radiant opportunity.
  • Hunt down ways to manage your time. Live, laugh, learn.

Build a bridge to broaden your world

With only essential shops open during this period of lockdown, we soon discover that retail therapy doesn’t provide us with the happiness we need. And can be a self-limiting behaviour. Making life simple again can remind us of the uncomplicated experiences that we often overlook. Minutes that become moments which represent more value and less detriment.

  • Small acts like kind words or compliments.
  • Time out biking in the woods.
  • Enjoying the sunshine exercising in the park.
  • Practicing dance in your studio or singing or playing an instrument.
  • Appreciating the smell of the grass or breathing in the aroma of spring flowers.

Select those substantial events you would like to prioritise today. Enjoy your favourite hobby. Kick off that adventurous activity you never have the time for. Dedication and passion revives fresh innovation and renewed meaning to your life.

Self-improvement is beneficial. Expanding our thinking and knowledge. But there is a time to identify your strong points. Spend time thinking and listing your top 5 strengths.

  • Are you creative? An artist, a designer?
  • Do you display understanding, offer a patient hand? A good listener, empathetic perhaps?
  • Are you filled with enthusiasm and determination?
  • Think of ways to include these strengths in your work place, in your relationships and in your community.

Disclose the silver lining in every cloud

Those opportunities that arrive wrapped up with obstacles. And you never realised that your difficult situation could be the door way to positive emotional change.

  • Weigh up your ideas that turned into a positive approach where you gained more self-confidence because you pushed through to find purpose in life.
  • Consider the actions you singled out following devastating circumstances in the past. To alter your priorities when you began to be honest with yourself and affirm processes to improve. By living with integrity. And reviewing the results from adversity and tests. There is much wisdom in considering every adverse situation as pure joy so that you learn how to persevere as your faith is tested (James 1:2-3).

Mindfully reflect on your relationship

All the reasons why you chose to say ‘I do’. Or maybe you stand at this turning point considering the seriousness of a lifetime commitment.

  • Though life is congested with change and conflict. Thoughtfully measure what you are grateful for in your partner, rather than ignore their worth.
  • Action this exercise often and note how it significantly replaces your previous perspective. All those thoughtful actions that go unnoticed. Squashed by the hectic schedule of life. Forgotten as mundane, that so easily can be taken for granted. Can teach you that love is worth fighting for.

Reverse your rush-hour stress from trek to oh yes!

Grab your day with God. A precious privilege and miracle granted by God. He will make every path known to you as you experience His joy and blessings continuously (Psalms 16:11). The way to perk up without reaching for that cup of coffee first is by listening to uplifting, encouraging music. Medical science confirms the hormone dopamine is released when we listen to uplifting music. Isn’t that a cheerful invitation.

Rate your happiness score on a scale of 1 – 10

How happy are you with the following…

  • Do you sacrifice who you are because someone else may not like you?
  • Do you let someone else have the power to make you feel insignificant?
  • Do you permit the opinions of others to become your reality?

Every day pretend to be happy until one day you suddenly are! When you trust God with everything, He fills you with His zest for life and peace so that you overflow with hope (Romans 15:13). One day you won’t have to think about making that choice anymore, because it just happened. No more pretences, when you choose to find purpose. And start living with that purpose.

  • Anything life swings at you. From twists that you dodge in the bends of life. Powers positivity and optimism in every way you act and react.
  • Suddenly you will be filled with passion because you appreciate that everything is for a purpose. God has placed value in you as He esteems you to make choices that are transferrable to every area of your life. Like forgiving others you feel have wronged you.

The benefits of choosing to be happy outweigh the obstructions.

  • You feel happier, smile more, have less to worry about and in time forget (yes forget!) every trivial (and major) disputes that transpired in the first place.
  • In return, you not only find purpose but live with purpose for a purpose – God’s eternal purpose (Psalm 33:11)!

Great message for our current time, Ava. I love journaling, it’s such therapy for me. Back in January, I wrote a blog post, “A Peek Inside my Journal for 25 Life-giving Thoughts.” At the time, I had no idea what was coming or where we would all find ourselves. Thanks for these timely reminders.

I’ve thought a lot about joy and choosing gratitude for what I do have rather than what I’m missing. What is hard is helping our boys to accept this mindset as well. Great post, Ava!!
