5 Things Successful People Do To Begin Their Day

First thing in the morning you have more energy and willpower to tackle tasks that require internal motivation. So how do you break the mould? If you don’t have enough time for breakfast. Or to spend quality time with family. Or fit in an exercise class.

Looking for a quick reference guide? There is so much information available on how to be successful that sometimes we are left more confused.

Keeping lists are great at making us more organised. Although, why not consider these counter intuitive lessons as you begin your day.

1| Don’t take yourself so seriously

We all have an agenda. And feel the need to be important.

Try looking at yourself from the outside in. Note your own quirks and idiosyncrasies. This is an indication that we know who we are. That we recognise our own stuff. Others may take you seriously. But, you are aware of your oddities and don’t need to identify with what others may verbalise.

2| Don’t worry about doing the wrong thing

You know your value system. So the only thing you have to worry about is whether what you do and say is in line with this.

Stop spending precious time worrying over those who seek to defame, gossip or cause financial and emotional harm towards you. They are not worth it.

3| Don’t indulge your mood

Life always gets in the way. There are days when you may not feel on top of the world. You may have had a negative start to your day. Distinguishing whether you are in a bad mood and the choice to change it are two different things.

Smile. Appreciate why you are thankful for what you do and love most. Then engage into your day. By sharing this with others. You will benefit more from changing your mood. As will others.

4| Don’t imagine the worst

How much time do you take being anxious over the things that might or might not happen. Fear is paralysing.

Rather than mull over your list of things that may or may never happen. List them. Then find solutions and ways of preventing any of your fears from transpiring. Visualise negative outcomes. By considering preventative options. And possibilities that dis-empower fear.

5| Don’t not do anything

This is probably the worst if not the last thing you need to eliminate today. Inertia is not without consequences. Take a moment to reflect on the cost of inaction. Now instead of worrying. Find all the possible advantages of working on moving from fear to success.

Any reference guide whether quick or not takes time to apply to daily practices. Because we must acknowledge how challenging, painful and difficult growth and change is.

So begin your journey today. And be liberated along this process of feeling encouraged along your day, rather than commanded.
