In a world where the news leaves us worried and dismayed. There are benefits to being grateful everyday for the many positives you encounter. Today is Mothering Sunday, the fourth Sunday of Lent and three weeks before Easter. Set aside some time to enjoy the beginning of Spring and show admiration to your mum on this glorious Mothering Sunday.
I pondered over three mothers in the bible who inspired me with their attitude during difficult situations. The stories in the bible are never boring. Nothing about these women made them ordinary. Instead they could be described as daring and confident; spirited and defiant; stubborn and vibrant.
The unloved wife, yet a loyal mother. Her son Judah later became the line to King David and our Saviour Christ. Also known for saving his brother Joseph from the hand of his brothers. A woman rejected but redeemed by God.
The mother of Moses, who hid him amongst the reeds to save his life. Then became his nurse maid during his early years growing up in Pharoah’s palace. The mother of one of the greatest leaders and lawgivers in biblical history. A woman known as daring but full of courage.
The wife of Isaac who left her family to marry a man she never met. The mother of twin boys whose struggle began in the womb. Jacob her beloved son wrestled with God and was given a new name Israel. She encountered the never ending conflict between Esau and Jacob. Later known for assisting in Esau’s birthright being given to his older brother Jacob. A woman strong-willed but passionate.
