Ways To Improve Your Self-Care

The festivities have ended. The hype of Christmas and New Year has slowly faded. January has gripped us with coldness of weather. So how do you stay wrapped up and optimistic. When the days are frosty, dark and rainy.

There is a way to shine your way through gloomy days and improve your health and well being in this first month of a fresh new year.

You play a big role in protecting your health and well being. Developing techniques and lifestyle changes that are long lasting and self-initiated.

1| Let’s begin. Start your day by gently stretching when the alarm goes off.

Research has shown that stretching is beneficial to your muscles after a night’s sleep. As it helps fluid to circulate through your body and stimulate joint flexibility slowly waking you up. So stop pressing the snooze button and spend 5-10 minutes stretching.

2| Less zest, no zeal?

With a decrease in sunlight. We need a boost of Vitamin D for optimum health in the winter months. Start eating Vitamin D rich foods that add sunshine to your plate and step. Consider taking a supplement with advice from a nutritionist.

3| Get up and go outdoors

Although our first temptation is to hibernate when the chill of winter lingers on. Why not give yourself a challenge. Train for a half marathon or if you optimistic a full marathon. You will be motivated. Will get some fresh air. Feel energised and on your way to getting fit.

4| Sensible Eating

Diets will be top of the list for new year resolutions. Instead, try being sensible. And start eating healthier. More fresh fruit, veg and lean meats. Less snacks in a moderate and more individual pace. Before launching onto the first diet plan.

5| New month, new you

This is the month to start new things. Plans. Ideas. Hobbies. Discover a fresh focus. Say affirmative things to yourself everyday. Such as I am beautiful. Or I can do this.

Start a journal. There are so many ideas of what to write about with scripted journals available in leading bookstores. Some life changing ideas include finding 3 things to be thankful for everyday. By the end of the year you will have found 1095 things that you are grateful for.

So take care of yourself and make small changes to your lifestyle. You will be surprised at how great you will feel. Go out there and be amazing!
