I love mirrors!
They reflect light.
They show me my true reflection.
Sometimes, I like what I see …
Other times, I cringe.
But, the mirror will never lie…
Or reflect an incorrect image.
What we see is exactly what is reflected.
God’s Word should be that mirror to our soul.
If some fail to do what God requires, it’s as if they forget the word as soon as they hear it.
One minute they look in the mirror, and the next they forget who they are and what they look like.
However, it is possible to open your eyes and take in the beautiful, perfect truth found in God’s law of liberty and live by it. If you pursue that path and actually do what God has commanded, then you will avoid the many distractions that lead to an amnesia of all true things and you will be blessed. [James 1:22-25]
Over the last year, I have used a mirror and the Word of God to look at myself…
… my thoughts
… my words
… my actions
… the person I want to be!
Do they line up with Christ? And what He would think… say… do…
Sometimes, it has been easy.
Other times, I have to gaze more intently into the ‘mirror’ of God’s Word.
The more I was able to recognise thoughts, words and actions – then with God’s help change.
… to eliminate negative thoughts and thought patterns
… to think before I speak
… to consider the consequence of my actions and how they impact others
Allowing Christ to transform my heart through His change process from ‘cocoon’ to ‘butterfly’ will be life long…
To take steps… to learn something new every single day… to grow and develop into a better person He wants me to be…
For now, we can only see a dim and blurry picture of things, as when we stare into polished metal. I realize that everything I know is only part of the big picture. But one day, when Jesus arrives, we will see clearly, face-to-face. In that day, I will fully know just as I have been wholly known by God. [1 Corinthians 13:12]
