Bare branches lightly frosted in the dark December morning… Chilled fog gently enfolding the trees… The frostiness glistened as the sun peaked above the horizon… Erasing the darkness…
As I stared through the window and back to the twig Christmas tree glowing vibrantly in the living room. I was reminded of 3 things …
A bare tree is without cover of leaves or flowers… But somehow the iciness makes the winter trees look pretty…
Bareness in our lives can leave us feeling exposed… Maybe there is an area in your life where you feel bare? You feel like you are missing something… or have lost someone… or there is a void… leaving you feel ‘bare’ and empty…
As the bare tree reminds us of a change in season and we remember the birth of Christ… it reminds me of the cross.
‘where He bore our sins in His own body on the cross’
1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV)
Why not ‘cast your cares on Him… because He cares for you’ … 1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV) … no matter what you face right now!
The emerging light brightened the cold dark morning… Suddenly the trees look picturesque as the frost slowly melts sparkling in the dawn sunrise… Perhaps you feel cold and dark… like the morning…
As the bright lights on the Christmas tree in front of me capture my gaze… it reminds me of the light that will never go out.
Jesus said… ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’
John 8:12 (NKJV)
Why not look to … ‘the light of the world’ …John 9:5 (NKJV) … because His light will always guide and protect you!
As the darkness turned to light, I glanced at the stars on the Christmas tree sparkling in the light… it reminds me of ‘The Star’ that lit the holy night Christ was born bringing hope.
…’For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him’.
Matthew 2:2b (NKJV)
Why not lift your eyes to … the One ‘who has created these stars because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power’…Isaiah 40:20 (NKJV) … He is the only hope you need!
