5 Characteristics of The Promised King…

With just a few days to go… have you really thought about…

  • Why you are excited about Christmas day?
  • What are you looking forward to most this Christmas?

Is the receiving/giving of gifts?
Is it the delicious food and flair?
Is it the festive fun with family and friends?
Is it Santa Claus (Father Christmas)?
OR…
Is it the birth of Christ?

For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given;
And the government shall be upon His shoulder,
And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6 (AMP)

The prophet Isaiah made five amazing declarations of the promised King, Jesus Christ to be born…  As a Christian, I enjoy Christmas day because it gives me a chance to remember the birth of a King…  This year, I have been inspired to write that though we are celebrating the birth of Christ… we look up with anticipation to the return of Triumphant King and Ruler over all.

1. Wonderful –
He is a God of wonders (Many, O Lord my God, are the wonderful works which You have done… Psalm 40:5 AMP).
The wonders He performs are to His glory and a testament of His Righteousness! (God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.  2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV).

2. Counselor –
He knows everything and is infinitely wise.  So He is worthy to be the greatest Counselor.  (But [only] with Him are [perfect] wisdom and might; He [alone] has [true] counsel and understanding.  Job 12:13 AMP).

3. Mighty God –
He is the Almighty.  (…I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.  Revelation 1:8 NLT).
He is great and mighty and His understanding has no limit.  (How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!  Psalms 147:5 NLT).

4. Everlasting Father –
He is forever. (The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, And underneath are the everlasting arms… Deuteronomy 33:27 AMP);  (  Honor and glory to the King who rules forever. He cannot be destroyed and cannot be seen. Honor and glory forever and ever to the only God… 1 Timothy 1:17 ERV).
He dotes on us as as loving Father. (The Father has loved us so much! This shows how much he loved us: We are called children of God. And we really are his children… 1 John 3:1 ERV)

5. Prince Peace –
He became our peace.  He bridged the gap between earth and heaven, came to Calvary so that we could be free.  (For He Himself is our peace and our bond of unity… Ephesians 2:14 AMP).

I love the festivities of Christmas… but truly believe in the birth of Christ!
