‘Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind;
And therefore is wing’d Cupid painted blind:
Nor hath Love’s mind of any judgement taste;
Wings and no eyes figure unheedy haste:
And therefore is Love said to be a child,
Because in choice he is so oft beguiled.’
‘I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.’
As a romantic, clearly to watch the play on the longest day of the year would be a dream, but for the day, I got to day dream as I read the love story of four lovers where the plot gets complicated.
The love of Lysander and Hermia, reminds me of the pursuit of love we all long for... ‘My heart is true as steel.’ But even better still, it makes me think of the Lover of my Soul who continually pursues me. His love only chases me.
I am so glad that the Lover of my Soul is not going to turn around one day and say it’s over.
His love is forever… strong as death! (Song of Solomon 8:6)
