3 Diet Tips For Summer...

Image
Esther was a woman who displayed both ~ beauty and character… her stunning beauty caught the eye of everyone and her God fearing character led her to places only God could take her to… not only becoming the Queen in replacement of another… more importantly the KING of Kings chose her to be his representative… and history is still rippling from how she stood out from all the rest! She displayed courage [quality of being brave, filled with boldness, fearlessness and daring] and demonstrated boundless confidence in God’s provision … This is a person I am inspired to be like…. as a woman Esther chose not to rely on her looks or beauty or even age… but she sought after the character that would please God… because of this I believe that is why she is still one of the most beautiful woman in history… In considering the Godly woman in Proverbs 31, what virtues would you seek to outline from this exceptional portrait? Which is more important ~ beauty or character? Continuing with the book of Esther, this woman inspired many, displayed both stunning beauty and remarkable character… out of all the many women who were selected… she was the one the King chose as his bride… but key to this charismatic story is the Heavenly KING who chose her to stand up in such a time as that! Is that not awesome? She was a young woman of strength [quality of being robust, tough and sound; stable and hardy] as she acknowledged her God as merciful… Esther is definitely my favourite woman from the bible this year… as I have read these 10 chapters yet again… I am inspired in a world so consumed with looks to portray both beauty and character in a manner that is pleasing to God… In Proverbs 31, we see a description of a Godly woman… and someone we should all aspire towards… of being understanding, considerate, compassionate… to follow and serve God with all her heart, mind and soul… a woman filled with maternal love… with the …

10 Things About Learning Mindfulness As A Christian…

Image
Is mindfulness Christian? Is it beneficial or not?

These are questions I cannot answer for you… but if being a Christian is a lifestyle then it is about a relationship with a living God not a religion… so you know where your identity lies…

This means that reading the bible and knowing what it says is simply not enough… as James 1:22-25 states you have to put into action what you read… which means practicing what God’s word enlightens your heart to do… and Paul encourages us to renew our thinking continually…

In understanding mental health… and neuroscience, mindfulness is a skill that is learned… there are many benefits to learning which is the acquisition of knowledge or skills through study, experience, or being taught… to gain an understanding of, or become proficient in, grasp, absorb, assimilate, digest and familiarise your self with something…

How many times have you allowed your mind to wander so far away from the present moment and the activity you are doing right now?

7 Lies To Shun When Feeling Frazzled…

Image
This month the aim is to step back and just notice what I am thinking… to distinguish whether it’s just my thoughts or is it a fact…

In recognising this process quickly, we can avoid the problem where the content of our thoughts leads us to have painful emotions or behave in ways we do not want to…

This doesn’t mean we don’t have problems or difficulties or struggles…

It simply means we are more aware of how to deal with all these situations in a positive way…

We have the choice to act on our thoughts or push them away…

Words are a powerful tool and that is why it is important to manage your thought process…

So If you are feeling worn down by life… then refuse to agree with these 7 Lies ~
All the false statements the enemy’s speaks into your life.Negativity in any form. The feeling of being inadequate.Always wanting to please everyone else.Worrying about what others think of you.Giving into the celebrity culture of comparing yourself to who is prettier or better looking or more successful.B…

Being Mindful...

Image
In a demanding and ever changing environment, people are continuously aspiring to be better… in every way…

If old patterns are not working, then it’s quite clear it might be you who needs to change. The Bible defines how we should live.  It is not enough to read and know all this information, but we have a responsibility to put it into practice and change how we think, act and react…

In the journey of life, we are continuously evolving and if we are to become the best version of ourselves… then we need to be mindful of our attitudes and behaviours repeatedly…

Based on ‘Using Mindfulness Skills in Every day, A Practical Life Guide by Christine Dundley and Maggie Stanton,
What is it? Mindfulness is simply being aware and in the present moment… When you are unmindful you revert to auto pilot which is doing things without being aware of what you are doing…
This is a practical everyday skill that once learnt will bring many benefits… So if you choose to learn it… you will need to prac…

Choices, Chances, Changes...

Image
In a time when we have more to do... and less time to do it in, we are always having to self-evaluate our progress... and learn how to be better at time management...

One key component to this is being mindful...

Each day we are all presented with choices...

Do we take the chance? Do we make the change?

How many times have you spent your day thinking about the past ~ ruminating about how you wish you done this... or why didn't I do that... if only?

How many times have you spent your day thinking about the future ~ dreaming about if I had this I could do that... or my life would be so much better... or my life could be like that?

In his book See You At The Top, Zig Ziglar states 'you are the only one who can use ability. it is an awesome responsibility'. He speaks of hope and optimism. His motivation is clear. He starts his book with 'The End'. Only you can end 'negativity' in every sense that holds us prisoners...

Why do we settle for less than we deserve …

REFLECTION ~ Half Way...

Image
Do you feel like you half way there?

Not quite where you want to be, but perhaps half way to where you want to be…

With 6 months of the year already gone, do you feel like your new year’s resolutions are all forgotten and your well thought of to-do-list is long forgotten?

With wildflowers gracing the fields and meadows… I want to inspire you to take the month of June to spend time reflecting…

Whatever season you find yourself in, simply think about where you are right now on the journey of life. ..

What list of things did you set off in 2017 to do differently?

Were there changes you wanted to make?

Goals you aimed to achieve?

How close are you to this?

At the half way mark… it is never too late to revisit all those New Year’s resolutions…

Every month is a new chapter, and in every season God is faithful…

As I gaze at the daisies dancing in the early summer breeze basked in warm sunshine… I am reminded that His love is steadfast… His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3…

How To Pray When You Feel Insecure...

Image
1.  Begin by telling God how you feel… Do you closely observe the news and are instilled with distress?  Does the fear of the unknown… of what could happen next leave you feeling unsteady? Do you contend with worry? 2.  Learn how to pray knowing only God can turn panic into calm...  He is the only One who can bring stillness in the middle of disturbing happenings… 3.  Trust God as your safe haven… your anchor in any storm…
Dear Father, In every anxious event and situation, I bring my requests to You (Philippians 4:6)… being strong in Your mighty power against the forces of evil (Ephesians 6:10-12)… Knowing there is no fear in Your perfect love (1 John 4:18)… Keeping my mind only on You – Perfect Peace (Isaiah 26:3)… And when I feel unloved, unimportant or insecure, I remember to whom I belong (Ephesians 2:19-22)… I know You are with me always ~ to the very end (Matthew 28:20)… Saved by Your redeeming grace (Ephesians 2:5)… sharing not only in Your suffering but also being heirs to You…

Is This The Time For Which You Are Called?...

Image
Earlier this year, I posted beauty tips based on the character of Esther. The Book of Esther displays the unfolding of a young woman that stood up in her generation and made a significant difference.

This weekend I had the privilege to hear Erwin McManus speak live... If you don’t know who is, please check him out here

His talk reminded me of one exceptional woman.  Esther inspires me to stand up for what is right… she chose to arise and not remain silent at a pivotal time in history… Around us we see a world in desperate need of hope… the news filled with another terrorist attack emerging and lives left marred by the carnage...

From his motivating book bursting with remarkable astuteness Seizing Your Divine Moment: Dare to Live a Life of Adventure Erwin McManus shares profoundness…

If you could capture one moment of your life, which one would it be?

Some particular moment in the past?

A moment of regret?

How many of us haven’t spent many moments reflecting on moments lost, all th…

How To Pray When You Feel Uncertain...

Image
1. Begin by telling God how you feel… Do you feel unsettled, perhaps even unsure about something?  Plans are not definite and cannot be precise… Do you feel hesitant or undecided about what to do next?  Life brings periods of challenges and difficulties that are unavoidable… Do you struggle to deal with the curveballs life throws at you?  Sometimes in continuous succession... 2.  Learn how to pray that God will turn your fears and doubts away from anxiety and apprehension… but instead direct you to problem solve and uncover ideas that will propel you to innovation and excellence… 3. Consult God as you would do to a trusted counsellor or advocate…Dear Father,

When my mind is consumed with questions and concerns… instruct me and show me the way I should go (Psalms 32:8)… by being present as I plan (Proverbs 16:1)… pray enquiring of God, what should I do? What do You want me to do?
When I wonder if God has forgotten me… remind me that You did not spare Your own Son, so how will You not gr…

Praying the ARMOUR of GOD...

Image
When you feel defenceless.... When your strength is depleted... When you need protection... Pray the Armour of God [Ephesians 6:10-20] over you and your loved ones ~
Draw your strength and might from God (v.10 ESV)...So you can defend yourself against the devil’s tricks (v.11 CEV)...Let the truth be like a belt around your waist... And let God’s justice protect you like armour (v.14 CEV )...  Let your faith be like a shield... And you will be able to stop all the flaming arrows of the evil one (v.16 CEV)... Your desire to tell the good news of peace should be like shoes on your feet (v.15 CEV)...Let God’s saving power be like a helmet... And for a sword use God’s word that comes from the Spirit (v.17 CEV)...  Never stop praying... Always pray by the power of the Holy Spirit... Stay alert and keep praying...(v.18 CEV)...

How To Pray When You Feel Anxious...

Image
1.  Begin by telling God what it is that's bothering you... Do you feel some days that minor things stress you? Do you panic when it feels like everything in your day is falling apart? Do you get anxious because it feels like things aren't going the way you hoped? 2.  Learn how to pray by making the prayer your own conversation and summary of  bible  verses relevant to your situation... 3.  Open up to God as you would talk with someone you deeply trust...Dear Father,

Today my circumstances make me feel anxious... filling me with questions of why and when and how... but I know that when I feel most vulnerable, this is the right time to come to You (Philippians 4:6)...

You say to me 'be strong... don't be afraid'... making my weak hands strong and my weak knees steady (Isaiah 35:4)...  I trust in You because you make me strong like a tree planted near streams of water (Jeremiah 17:8)... Your commands are to be strong and courageous not terrified and discouraged (Jos…
